Loco 'Motive'
9/17/06
The Marble Cliffs 0-4-0 Vulcan #1 saddle tank steam locomotive was recently relocated to the Depot Conference Center. The Vulcan will compliment the Depot's collection which includes a caboose, a streetcar, and a 1/3rd-scale locomotive ride.

Prior to the move, the Vulcan was completely sanded down and several coats of glossy black paint were applied, along with silver accents on the drive wheels. Later, a crew from R.P.M. Rigging arrived on the scene with a flat-bed trailer and a mobile crane and gracefully lifted the steamer out of the museum facilities and onto the truck.

Following a short trip down State Route 315, and the odd gazes of several motorists, the Vulcan arrived to its new home at the conference center on Old Henderson Road. After much maneuvering of the truck, the little engine was gently lowered into place between the depot offices and the conference building, just in time for the 2006 train fest Expo.

The Vulcan #1 will be on display at the Depot Conference Center for at least the next five years.
