The Ohio Railway Museum (ORM) announces the donation of two heavyweight cars to the Dennison Museum in Dennison Ohio. Dennison was a major stop for WWII soldiers on their way to the East Coast. As part of Dennison’s contribution to the war effort the citizens provided coffee and donuts to the GI’s throughout the day and night at an enormous canteen.
The two cars that were donated by the ORM to Dennison are named the Williamsport and the Times Square. The Williams port was built in Altoona Pa. in 1929 and was used as a division superintendent’s car.
The Times Square is a passenger car that, quite possibly, brought soldiers through Dennison Ohio. Both cars will be completely restored by the Dennison Museum and proudly displayed.
The donation provides opportunities for the ORM to improve the museum infrastructure, secure donations of equipment, and expand our ability to offer rides.
Check out the the photos below of the moving company preparing the cars for transport.
